Having a Business Coach isn’t a luxury you don’t need, it is a necessity your business must have.
If you were in competitive sports and aiming to be the very best you could be, to win medals, set records and perform at your ultimate best, you are most likely to work with a sports coach to help you get there.
So, as a business owner, why don’t you have a business coach if you want excel? You want to improve what you offer your customers and what your business provides. You want to see profits increasing on a monthly basis along with a growing reputation and award-winning customer service. So, ask yourself this… why wouldn’t you work with a business coach to help get you there?
A business coach does exactly what a sports coach does in terms of teaching you how to perform. They work with you on your attitude, your mindset and bring clarity to your ambitions and goals. Their focus is to get you spending more time working ON the business, rather than working IN the business. Think about it – how many hours last week did you spend working on your business and its profits? Business is a competitive market so why wouldn’t you work with a coach to make sure you perform and deliver the very best?
As an entrepreneur and business owner if can often be ‘lonely’ at the top. With you setting goals, targets and expectations on your staff – who is doing that for you? Who is there for you to bounce ideas around with, run over the last month’s figures and most of all – who is there to hold you accountable?
And, when times get difficult, when there are problems and you start to doubt what you are doing, why you are doing it and how to solve any issues, who is it you can turn to? Not only to work with you through the issues but also to give you the confidence you need to make objective decisions.
The Role of a Business Coach
To put it simply, a business coach’s role is to get the best from you, for you. They will:
- Provide guidance and support using a range of tried and tested systems
- Coach you to be truly objective about your goals, both personal and business
- Encourage and motivate you to reach your maximum potential and to build your confidence.
- Give you the tools and space you need to really focus on your business
- Help you to get the best from your team.
- Assist you in making small changes to make marginal gains on your bottom line
What is the business coach approach?
Just like a sports coach, a business coach will push you to the edge of your comfort zone…. continuously.
There will be plenty of questions, some of which you will think you don’t know the answer to, but with guidance and encouragement, you will come to the conclusion that deep down you do know the answer and you do know what to do – even if that is to read a book on a subject in order to learn a new skill, attend a course or to stop saying yes or even start saying no!
There will be plenty of task setting – by you! One thing a coach will not do, is do the work for you. They will hold you accountable to your tasks and goal setting and be there to ask ‘Why not?’ if you haven’t completed a particular action. One thing they will not stand for is excuses, denial or blame, so honesty is always the best policy.
Sometimes it will seem a little harsh, a little scary or just too much hard work, but remember; your coach is passionate about you and your business and wants you to succeed, they have your best interests at the centre of all that they do and offer.
One of the most common statements a business coach will hear after working with a client is:
“I wish I had found you sooner”
